CRANBERRY TWP., PA (July 27, 2018) — PLS Logistics Services, a leading third-party logistics provider, held a canned food drive at its sales headquarters in Pittsburgh and its corporate office in Cranberry Twp., PA, and collected over 1,700 items to benefit the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank on Thursday, July 26.
In efforts to give back to the local community, PLS Logistics Services partnered with the North Way Christian Community Church in Wexford, PA, to host a canned food drive at its Pittsburgh offices during the month of July. All food items that were collected in the canned food drive will be donated to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
“We’re excited to partner with the North Way Christian Community Church to benefit such an important cause and be able to make a difference in our local community,” Greg Burns, President, Chairman and CEO of PLS Logistics, said.
In Pennsylvania, hunger is not always visible and can force people of all ages to make the tough decisions, such as choosing housing and medical bills over purchasing nutritionally adequate foods. The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank partners with 400 agencies to feed families and individuals in need and mobilize its surrounding communities to eliminate hunger. Burns said that PLS plans to engage with the community more in the coming year to continue to give back to communities in PLS’ office locations.
“Most people don’t realize how big of an issue hunger is in the Pittsburgh area,” Burns said. “I’m glad that PLS is able to make a difference and contribute to the food bank’s efforts to feed people in need.”
